So, finally, you have decided to keep a diary or a journal but do not know what you should write?

Then these tips will help you.

Why should You? If You find it difficult to stop the mind chatter and want to bring calmness to your life. You daydream about having so many things but find it difficult to believe you can achieve them, then choosing to keep diaries or journals will provide you with many benefits.

How to start?

First, take a diary or a journal you find attractive and a nice pen. You can write every day, once a week, or whenever you want to. Though, I would encourage you to write daily if possible.

What should you write?

Well, you can write anything you want to in your diary, but to get the most out of this activity, I would advise you to consider the below points:

  1. Ideal Life:

Write about what you want in your life? We adore so many things, admire certain people, a lifestyle, or many more, but just thinking about it will not get you anywhere. Writing will help in convincing yourself that this can be possible and urge you to prepare a plan of action to achieve your dreams. No one is going to judge you, criticize you, or will demotivate you for dreaming big.

For instance, I value people with technical skills. I find excellent communicators interesting. People who carry themselves gracefully easily achieve success. I wish I could have those attributes.

Now write separately your strategy to gain those qualities? Such as-

I should read some books on how to become an extraordinary speaker. I will enroll in at least one course to develop my technical skills. There are many etiquettes and body language improvement websites available online. I will go through them once a week.
Prepare your master plans at your convenience.

You may or may not achieve immediately, but soon you will find yourself closer to your goals.

“Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Do not bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.” ― William Faulkner

2. Gratitude List:

Despite having troubles in our life, all of us have something to be grateful for in life. I would urge you to do this now if you have not done this before. Suppose, You could not fix something and found easy tips on YouTube or google how to do that. Today, while journaling, I found the purpose of your life? You can write. Write as many things as you can. List down everything you are thankful for now. Doing this will shift your vibration.

3. Affirmations:

This activity has become a part of my daily morning routine. Writing a positive statement in my diary at the start of the day makes me happy and improves my mind. It also helps me to shut the negative self-talk that I have in my mind. I always replace negative self-talk with a positive one and write it as an affirmation.

4. Intentions:

Write your goals for the day. What do you want to achieve for the day? How do you want to feel? Want to start or complete one course on LinkedIn? Want to schedule a career conversation meeting with your boss. Want to organize your wardrobe? It can be personal or professional. Set at least three achievable goals.

5. Accomplishments:

Just as setting daily goals or intentions, it is also necessary to praise yourself for all the tasks you did during the day. Acknowledge it no matter however small you think it was. E.g., you washed your clothes in a washing machine despite having a busy schedule.

Instead of always complaining about what you could not finish because of external factors, appreciate what you did.

6. Lessons:

You read a new book or watched a motivational video and found all those things interesting that you do not want to forget. Write in your diary what you have learned from them and what you would like to follow.

7. A Letter to someone:

Did someone tell you something which you think was not right? Are you finding it difficult to say this directly to them? No worries. Write it in your diary. Write how it was not right from your perspective. So whenever you feel overwhelmed with the non-sense suggestion they gave you or blamed you for something that You were not guilty of, you can read this letter.

Conclusion:

Do not think a diary is only for writing a sad story of your life. If used with the proper intention, it will reflect the journey of your dream life.

If you have not done this yet, please do that and let me know how it has helped you.
